Hi there!
Welcome to Studio Dot. We are a team of architects and designers dedicated to defining architecture through context, research, and a collaborative spirit.
We believe design exists far beyond mere form; it is a response to place. Over the last decade, our studio has remained committed to honoring the unique landscape of every project, regardless of scale. By working in close accord with local artisans, we innovate through the revival of indigenous techniques and hands-on development.
To us, every design is a point where context and craft meet. We navigate this intersection through four core principles:
-
Innovation is not accidental; it is engineered.
We actively seek projects that challenge us to innovate through rigorous R&D. Over the last decade, we have pushed ourselves to explore new ways for structural use of timber and stone, alongside experiments in earth technologies and lime.
-
Architecture belongs to not just its coordinates but more.
Design should belong to its coordinates. For us, doing justice to the context means everything else falls into place. This is a multi-layered response: a judicious use of local skillsets, a sensitivity to the neighborhood, a technical reaction to the climate, and a deep respect for the design brief.
-
Co-creating with the hands that build.
Architecture is never a solo endeavor; it is the sum of a collective effort. We thrive on collaborating with fellow creative and technical consultants to expand our perspective. Most importantly, we are an artisan-centric practice—we believe those who build the project deserve as much celebration as those who design it.
-
Honesty in every layer.
For a design to be truly honest, materials must be allowed to speak in their true nature. We avoid the superficial, focusing instead on the tactile and visual integrity of the elements we use. Whether it is the grain of wood or the grit of earth, we let the material's inherent character define the final expression.
Need help?
We do not view projects in isolation. Whether we are detailing a custom timber joint, masterplanning a multi-acre campus, or applying the rigorous proportions of classical design, our process remains a deep dive into the specific context of the project.
By blurring the lines between the built form, its interior soul, and the terrain it inhabits, we ensure that every design—at every scale—is a coherent, enduring response to its environment.
-
The Human(e) Scale.
We design from the inside out. For Studio Dot, an interior is not a layer added later; it is the core of the architectural experience. From residential dwellings to industrial canteens, we focus on the tactile relationship between the user and the space. By celebrating the True Expression of materials like lime, earth, and stone, we create interiors that breathe and buildings that endure.
-
The Macro Scale.
We believe a project is only as successful as its relationship with the land. Our approach to masterplanning involves a rigorous study of the "in-between" spaces—the topography, the local flora, and the natural drainage patterns. By integrating climate-responsive strategies with a deep respect for the existing terrain, we ensure that our masterplans act as a symbiotic extension of the site’s natural intelligence.
Come say Hi!
Whether you are looking to start a new project, interested in a creative collaboration our door is open. We believe the best designs begin with a dialogue.
